Tech Links
When diagnosing PC problems, or  tweaking your computer to it's peak performance level, turn to the net.  There are a number of great sites with tech info, updated drivers and free utilities.
Here are links to some of the sites that we find ourselves using the most often. If we were giving grades, all of these sites would earn an A+

Shields UP!
Steve Gibson and the folks at Gibson Research have created this unique site that tests your computer's security settings.  You may be shocked to discover just how vulnerable your PC is to attack.  Most of  the problems this free utility discovers are easily fixed by modifying a few settings.   Before you get distracted by anything else on this page, click the link above.
Ad Aware
Around 80% of the computers we work on have spyware, and that percentage is going up everyday.  This great free program goes a long way toward solving the problem.  It does a better job than most of the commercial programs costing $29 or more.  Try it, you'll like it.
Housecall
Many of the most recent virus and spyware threats disable your antivirus program, and prevent you from installing a new one. What do you do?  Housecall is a powerful online virus scanner that detects and removes viruses that many of the best know programs like McAfee and Norton have trouble with.  It's not a replacement for your regular antivirus program, but when you are having trouble, this may be the cure. And it's free.
WinDrivers - online driver resource.
Barely a day goes by that we don't find ourselves using this site to track down an audio or video device driver.  They also offer a good deal of Tech news and some interesting and  funny online polls.
Hardware Central
News and reviews on the latest PC hardware, along with some solid online tutorials.  The volume of information available here is amazing.
Motherboard HomeWorld
The best place to look for information on boards.   Everyone is preoccupied with processors (Athlon, Pentium III, etc.) when they should be paying just as much attention to the motherboard.  A great resource.
